By SIMON MUNTEMBA DO not sell all your maize and remain starving, Northern Province Minister Chungu Bwalya has advised farmers in the region. Mr Bwalya said it would be retrogressive for the people to sell all their maize and remain starving. He said this when he met Mfungwe Council of village headmen at MfungwePrimary School in Isansa ward in Lupososhi. “Don’t sell all your maize and remain starving. Sell some and leave some for your own consumption,” Mr Bwalya said. The Mfungwe Council of Village Headmen is made up of 19 village headmen of Mfungwe area in the Isansa ward. The council was formed to advocate for development of the area. Mr Bwalya also told the village headmen that the newly constructed Mfungwehealth post would soon be opened as the health personnel had been deployed. The minister said as their MP he would provide cement through the Constituency Development Fund for the construction of a teacher’s’house at Mfungwe Primary School while the community will provide sand. On the complaint that only a few people were accessing social cash transfer funds, he informed the gathering that no Government programme would ever take on all people at once. He added that social cash transfer was meant for very vulnerable people and that Government was increasing the number of beneficiaries depending on availability of resources. He also said he would engage the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Reserve Agency on the issue of constructing a grain storage. Mr Bwalya was accompanied by Lupososhi DC Mambwe Katontoka, LupososhiCouncil Chairman John Kwandangala, Isansa Ward councillor Jonas Kafula and several PF officials.
