Don’t marry off young girls
Parents in Kaanga community in Shangombo district have been called upon to allow their girl children complete their education so as to pave way for more female leaders in the country. Shang’ombo District Commissioner Max Kasabi, called on guardians in Kaanga community to desist from marrying off young girls but instead allow them to focus on their education Mr Kasabi gave the advice when he toured Kaanga community in Shang’ombo district of Western Province as part of his familiarization tour. He encouraged parents and young girls to emulate the country’s first female Vice President. “Zambia has its first ever female vice president and this is because she focused on her education, so don’t marry off your young girls,” he counseled  Mr Kasabi also resounded the call made by government to the community of Kaanga that of developing all parts of Zambia which includes supporting and empowering women to reach decision making positions. “Reaching development to all parts of country can only be achieved if we as parents stop removing children from school and allow them to realize their dreams through education,” he said. – ZANIS The Sun
