DMX remains on life support as mum faces difficult decision over treatment
DMX remains on life support and his family will make a statement later today, his manager has confirmed following speculation the rapper had died. As rumours of DMX’s death broke overnight fans of the rapper quickly took to social media to express their condolences. Several sources, including comedian Luenell, commented on the rapper’s passing away, but his manager and close friend Steve Rifkind released a video to confirm the 50-year-old – whose real name is Earl Simmons – is still alive. DMX’s manager who had worked with the star for the last three years confirmed he is still on life support and asked fans to stop with the rumours and “let the family relax”. He said: “Everybody posting these rumours, DMX is still alive, he is on life support.” He added the family will release a statement on Friday. DMX has not regained any brain function nearly a week after his alleged overdose and the family may have to make the agonising decision of whether or not to withdraw life support, reports TMZ. The heartbreaking decision will lie with the rap artist’s mother Arnett Simmons. The outlet reported that Arnett, DMX’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom, his ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, the mother of two of his children Yadira Borrego, and his children had become a tight-knit group over the last week while constantly praying for improvement. The family had shared a joint statement on April 5 through People on April 5, which read: “On Friday night … our brother, son, father, and colleague DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, was admitted to White Plains hospital, facing serious health issues. “We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.” DMX [Courtesy]
