Dead and forgotten?
EIGHTEEN unclaimed bodies are laying at Ndola Teaching Hospital and Arthur Davison Children Hospital mortuaries on the Copperbelt. Disclosing the sad development to ZANIS in an interview yesterday, Ndola City Council Acting Director of Public Health Brian Mwanza said out of the 18 bodies, 14 are adults and four are infants. Mr Mwanza said out of the four infants, two were dumped by unknown people while two were brought in dead. He has since urged the members of the public who have missing relatives to find time and identify the bodies within 14 days before the local authority buries them. Mr Mwanza stated that the council buries bodies that have not been claimed and have been in the mortuary for over three months. “I want to inform the general public through the media to find time to visit the two health facilities and identify the bodies, because the Council is mandated to bury unclaimed bodies from public health institutions if they have stayed over 3 months,” Mr Mwanza explained. – ZANIS The Sun
