Dabid shines in Indeni FC promotion
SUN SPORTS writes INDENI FC Coach Dabid Chilufya says he is not under pressure preparing for the 2020/2021 MTN/FAZ Super Division after winning promotion from the inaugural Eden University National Division One league. “It was difficult playing under the Covid-19 pandemic period and we managed to qualify the team to the Super Division and winning the championship for the third time running which is very exciting. I am happy for what has happened,” Chilufya said. He said as a coach with a lot of experience coaching in the Super Division he is not scared of the level of competition. “I’m not under pressure. I’ve been in the premier league before so there is no pressure. It is just a matter of identifying players we can work with. “There are some people who are scared because Indeni makes a return into the Super Division after six years, but me I’ve been in the Super Division and I know what it takes to win a game and I know what I have to do for Indeni to win games,” he said. Indeni was crowned Champions of the FAZ National Division One league following a 2-0 win over Malaiti Rangers on the final day of the season and earned promotion to the Super Division. The team was presented with a trophy and a cheque of K125,000 by league sponsors Eden University. The triumph excited coach Chilufya who was recently fired as Zanaco FC assistant coach following the clubs poor run in the Super League. “It is a good feeling you know when you are fired from another club and then people feel that you can’t do a  good job but what is important for  a person when they go down is how they stand up. Chilufya said his main target will be to help Indeni cement their position in the Super League before considering a top four finish. He said Indeni has a lot of great players but there is need for the club to invest in acquisitions and young players below the age of 26 to compete fairly in the 2020/21 league set to start in October. Chilufya said his main target as coach is to make his own name by helping Indeni to achieve greatness as they compete among the best teams in the league. “I’m not the best but I want to be among the best coaches, so I joined Indeni and with the spirit the management have I knew that we can achieve with the support the team is receiving from the new executive,” Chilufya said.
