A CONSORTIUM of civil society organisations has recommended that the Zambian Constitution be repealed. The say this is the only way to address various lacunas and come up with a constitution that will stand a test of time. This is according to the Post Election statement by a consortium of 12 CSOs The statement was read at a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday by Zambia Council for Social Development Executive Director Leah Mitaba on their behalf. And Our Civic Duty Association Executive Secretary Simon Kabanda said there is no need to set up another Constitution Review Commission to repeal the Constitution. Mr. Kabanda said the nation has enough recommendations from previous Constitution Review Commissions that must be relied upon. At the same function Centre for Policy Dialogue Executive Director Neo Simutanyi called for punitive measures against political parties that will continue to champion tribal campaigns. Dr. Simutanyi also urged the -UPND administration to enhance the employment of teachers and medical personnel to minimize unemployment among youths. – ZNBC.
