‘COVID KILLS’
PETER SICHALI writes THE preventive measures announced by Government should not only be a mere pronouncement but should be strictly implemented to curtail the spread of covid-19, Commuter Rights Association President Aaron Kamuti has said. Mr Kamuti said that the pronouncement by the Ministry of Transport Communication was welcome and should be supported by everyone to stop the spread of the disease. He said Government should also work towards ensuring that bus operators reduce the number of passengers on buses. “These measures that Government has announced should not be mere pronouncements. We want to encourage Government to strictly enforce these Covid-19 measures for public transport to stop the spread,” Mr Kamuti said. Government has announced Covid-19 measures for public transport that include restricting the number of passengers, ensuring that passengers mask up among others. In a statement, Transport and Communications Minister, MutotweKafwaya, directed mandatory masking, routine sensitization, improved ventilation and mandatory temperature reading. Mr Kafwaya has warned that failure to observe the measures could result in cancellation of operating licence for bus operators. The Sun
