A government security guard at Kaleni Hospital in Ikelenge has committed suicide after he was found Covid-19 positive.
North-western Province Commissioner of Police, Joe Njase confirmed the sad development which occurred on Wednesday and identified the deceased as Albert kaleji 46.
He said that Kaleji hanged himself after doctors found him positive and advised him to self-isolate at his home.
Mr Njase said Kaleji when he got home, he did not reveal to his wife about his Covid19 status.
“And at 02 hours, he told his wife he needed to go outside and get some fresh air. He also told the wife to look after the kids,” he said.
He said the wife was puzzled about what he meant but never paid attention, thinking it was not something to worry about.
“However, time elapsed he did not return till morning only to hear that a certain man had hanged himself in the nearby bush,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police said family has been advised to bury the body as there was no foul play.
