TIM ZULU writes@SunZambianONE of Zambia’s most celebrated gaffers George ‘Chicken’ Lwandamina has been unveiled as Tech-nical Director for Prison Leopards FC.The former Zesco United mentor who put pen to paper for a one year renewable contract was unveiled at the colorful ceremony at the Correctional Service Headquarters within the sight of high senior Command of the admin-istration and club officials.Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner General, Commissioner Administration, Everisto Kalonga says the correc-tional service is in a hurry to change the face of sports in the service.“As a service we want to take the running of football to greater highest and to achieve that objective one of the steps was to start with the hiring of technical director to manage the affairs of football,” said Kalonga.“Some of the measures we have put in place as a service is the organizational of a sports executive and now the creation of a sports directorate which was not there to oversee the recruitment of quality players and the technical bench among other things.“This day is very important in our history as Zambia Correctional Service because we have in our fold one of the most renowned football managers, this country has ever produced in the name of George Lwandamina’s cali-bre,” he said.“As a service we have full trust and belief that you will deliver because taking a leaf from other defense wings who are doing pretty well sports wise and now as one of them we need to step up our gear and prove ourselves equal,” Kalonga said.In accepting his contract, George Lwandamina said that he is delighted to join Prison Leopards and that he will take on the job with both hands.“I know expectations are very high, I’ll try my level best given our years of experience in this field. The only thing am bringing here is my vast experience and hoping to inculcate in the players the value and realism at the field of play, am also alive to the fact that am joining a team with ambition, but am not here to promise a mountain, but I’ll be able to do my best,” said Lwandamina who was also unveiled with an official vehicle and a driver.Meanwhile, Club Vice Chairman who is also Assistant Commissioner Kennedy Sikota said after a serious intro-spection of the team as being visitors in the super league it was now significant for the executive to look at mo-dalities that will make them stay in the elite league for good. “Going forward, we want to be relevant and we looked at a person who could be of value in that respect and Mr George Lwandamina’s name came to our mind and here he is today,” said Sikota.And Deputy Director of Sports Conwell Mudenda thanked the entire command for helping his executive realize their dream of landing a person of Lwandamina’s caliber.Prison Leopards who are under the vigilant gaze of Mwenya Chipepo lit the league on fire winning one game, drawing one and lost one and faced Green Eagles yesterday in a rescheduled Week Five clash.
