‘CHAPTER NOT CLOSED’
By MICHAEL MIYOBAZAMBIA national soccer team coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic says he has not closed the chapter on Chipolopolo players Cletus Chama and Obrey Chirwa because the players are still in his plans for the AFCON and World Cup qualifiers. In an interview After Zambia struggled to beat Malawi 1-0 in Wednesday’s friendly game at Heroes Stadium, “Micho” said he still has a good relationship with Chama and Chirwa, the two players he dropped for allegedly missing two flights from their clubs Simba FC and Azam FC in Tanzania.“Micho” said he would apologise to the players after a full investigation if it is discovered that someone caused the confusion which resulted in the players being left out of the team. The Serbian said it was unfortunate that the players failed to meet the team’s target of joining the squad before 16:30 hours on Tuesday.“Micho” said he would have loved to see Chama playing as a number nine in today’s game against Kenya.“We have a very good relationship with the players and we have not closed the chapter. Not a chance, nobody has closed the chapter and we are in total peace.“Zambia plays Kenya today and “Micho” is hopeful that the remaining friendly games will help the Chipolopolo to shape up ahead of the CHAN and the AFCON Qualifiers set for November and January 2021 respectively.Meanwhile, Zambia will open her Cameroon Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign against neighbours Tanzania in a Group D fixture on January 19, 2021. According to the confirmed schedule released by the Confederation of African Football, the Chipolopolo will be based in South-West Cameroon and will play their group matches at the 20, 000 capacity, Limbe Omnisport Stadium. The team will then face Guinea on January 23 followed by another clash with neighbours Namibia on January 27.
