MULENGA MUSONDA writes @SunZambianA 23 years old Call Boy caused hysterical laughter in the Choma Magistrates Court when he said “smoking Marijuana helps him to call for Customers without feeling shy.”Pumulo Kashweka of Choma’s Mwapona township went further to explain to Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri that even at that particular time (in court) he felt shy standing before her because he had not smoked.This is in a matter in which Kashweka has been arraigned to Court on allegations of Trafficking in Psychotropic Substances contrary to the Laws of Zambia.It is alleged that Kashweka on October 1, 2020 trafficked in 12 grams of Marijuana a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation.When he appeared for plea before Court, Kashweka understood the charge read to him through the Court interpreter Luckson Sibalwa in Nyanja the language he understood better.Kashweka pleaded guilty to the charge and the Court proceeded to record a plea of guilty.Court: Have you understood the charge?Kashweka: YesCourt: How do you plea?Kashweka: I admit.Court: Were you allowed to traffick in the said Marijuana?Kashweka: NoCourt: Did you have a license?Kashweka: NoCourt: What was it for?Kashweka: I was using it to smoke so I can shout well when calling customers.Court: When you don’t smoke you feel shy?Kashweka: Yes.Court: So right now, are you are shy?Kashweka: Yes, am very shy (Courtroom bursts into laughter)Court: I record a plea of guilty.Following a plea of guilty, the matter was adjourned to October 20 for Facts and possible sentencing after Public Prosecutor Coillard Sikwalulwa made the application.Kashweka was remanded in custody.
