Chamanga eyes golden boot
SUN SPORTS writes  FORMER Chipolopolo striker James Chamanga says the MTN/FAZ Super Division should not be canceled because his target it to claim the top goal scorer award in the local league. Chamanga who is second on the top scores chart with 14 goal, one goal behind league top scorer Baba Basile from Lusaka Dynamos FC said winning the top goal scorer award would be good for his CV as one of the oldest players in the league with 40 years. Chamanga who joined Red Arrows after his 10 year spell in China where he played for Dalian Shide and Liaoning FC said the league should not be canceled because the top eight teams in the league have a chance to win something. The 2012 AFCON winner who featured for National Assembly and Zanaco before he trekked to South Africa where he featured for Bush Bucks FC, Moroka Swallows and SuperSport United said the top two teams, Forest Rangers and NAPSA Stars will have to work hard to claim the title by playing the remaining games. “The league must continue because I’m second on the top scorers chart and winning the golden boot would be good for my CV and that of my Club Red Arrows. “I would rather we finish the league if possible in the quickest way possible. Forest have a chance to win the league, but they will have to work hard for it. Napsa have done very well also so we should to find a way in which we can finish it,” Chamanga said. Meanwhile 2010 Club World Cup silver medalist, Given Singuluma says he is almost fit to return to the pitch as he has about two more years to wrap up his football career. Singuluma who won eight Congolese titles, three CAF Champions Leagues and two confederations Cup trophies with TP Mazembe before he joined Buildcon has also cautioned against the many foreign players in the league. He said there is need for FAZ to introduce a player quota which will compel local clubs to engage five foreign players par club for the national team to benefit. Singuluma said the Zambia national team has continued to struggle because players are not given game time at their respective clubs which prefers foreign players who don’t even play for their respective national teams. “For me FAZ should put a number, a limit and say maybe every club should have five foreigners. Five is enough because if you look at Buildcon FC, they have more foreigners than Zambians so how is the national team going to perform? It becomes difficult because the Zambians are not getting that opportunity to play in the Super League and some of the foreigners are not even better than the Zambians,” Singuluma said. Last month FAZ president Andrew Kamanga said the association would next season introduce a foreign player quota which would protect the interest of the Zambian players. The Sun
