NOEL IYOMBWA writes CHAKUNKALA Women Empowerment Organization (CWEO) has continued empowering women in Lusaka’s Chakunkalaward and surrounding areas with the introduction of an avocado growing project. CWEO chairperson Smart Mwitwa said his organization opted for the avocado growing project because of the financial potential it holds. “The programme we are witnessing today is the Avocado growing project where the women will be taught how to grow Avocado seedlings and later sell them as way of generating income.  “After the training, the women will start growing the Avocado seedlings and there is already market so after growing they sell without any difficulties,” he said. Dr Mwitwa said the organisation was formed after realising that there was so many problems affecting women and that so far they have embarked on a number of empowerment projects. He said that the other reason it was formed was to empower women so that they can live a sustainable lives in Lusaka’s Munali constituency. Dr Mwitwa said that the organization has partnered with other cooperating partners such as Atlas Mara.  A representative from Atlas Mara Agatha Yowela said that Atlas Mara is passionate about empowering women in the country. She said that the Bank has a platform were it is championing women empowerment through  financial inclusion and offering some products such as Tenga were they can serve money. Ms. Yowela noted that the Bank believes that empowering women is empowering the entire nation adding that it is happy to be associated with CWEO. The Sun
