CALL FOR FRESH APPLICATIONS, MANDEVU PF DEMAND

By NATION REPORTER The PF Secretariat should call for fresh adoption applications in constituencies where the Electoral Commission of Zambia has cancelled nominations, PF members in Mandevu constituency have charged. Some of the constituencies to have fresh filing of nominations include Mandevu, Lusaka Central and Kasenengwa among others. PF officials in Mandevu have asked the secretariat to call for fresh adoptions. This follows the call by the Electoral Commission of Zambia for fresh nominations for elections which have been cancelled following the death of Zambians United for Sustainable Development party candidate Melody Musutu in the Mandevu case. For Lusaka Central, it followed the withdrawal of Charity Lumpa from the race. A PF official, Lemmy Bwalya said it was only fair that the party calls for a fresh adoption process before settling for the previous candidates. Mr Bwalya said following the uproar in the constituency over Mr Christopher Shakafuswa as the candidate, it was prudent to call for fresh adoptions. He said the silence from the party was worrying since ECZ had announced its position. Mr Bwalya said the commission should guide on the way forward especially that there was tension in the Constituency. Meanwhile, Mr Shakafuswa says he is ready for filing in of fresh nominations today. Mr. Shakafuswa said the PF will continue with objective and issue based campaign. He said Mandevu constituency, which had bad roads and poor water reticulation, among other challenges, has changed for better in the last 10 years the PF has been in power.
