BUSINESS FIRMS URGED TO ADHERE TO COVID-19 MEASURES
BUUMBA CHIMBULU writes @SunZambian THE business community should ensure that they adhere to all Covid-19 measures to ensure that their workforce does not get affected which in turn may have a negative impact on their revenue generation. This is according to the Zambia Private Sector Alliance (ZPSA) Chairperson, Chabuka Kawesha. Dr Kawesha warned that business disruptions would be unavoidable if the Covid-19 cases continued to rise. This, he said, therefore called for all stakeholders, including the business community to ensure that their workforce adhered to all Covid-19 measures. Dr Kawesha strongly appealed to business houses as well as manufacturing, industry and other factory operational plants to comply with the Covid-19 health guidelines. “We appeal to all employers and businesses countrywide to ensure their respective workforce mask-up and the necessary hand cleaning and sanitizing products are always available in the workplaces. “Property managers of Shopping Malls and shop owners are equally advised to get involved and ensure entry into malls or shops is on condition of patrons complying with Covid-19 prevention guidelines,” he said in a statement. Dr Kawesha also called upon the local municipal and district councils nationwide to join forces with local traders and businesses in ensuring compliance with the Covid-19 healthcare and prevention guidelines by utilising all available material and human capital at their disposal. “This virus is now rampant in major towns as observed from the daily reports issued by the Ministry of Health. “Over 400-plus known new Covid-19 cases per day is not a matter the business community should ignore, further in the absence of a vaccine which is yet to reach Zambia,” he said. Dr Kawesha further said: “if we all comply and control Covid-19 within our respective borderlines, businesses will remain open, reduced stress on our healthcare facilities and our workforce efforts will be visible and this will create greater trust and confidence between our public institutions and the private sector.”
