BUSA HOST GIRLS’ CHALLENGE CUP
AARON MUBANGA writes@SunZambianTHE Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) yesterday hosted the highly anticipated inaugural Annual Girls Chal-lenge Cup in commemoration of International Girls’ Day that falls today under the theme “My Voice, Our Equal Future”.Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) Director and co-founder Fred Kangwa says they decided to host this event to focus attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment.“We decided as an organization to have this girl’s event to focus attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their human rights. … BUSA is committed to celebrating this day to ensure that all girls have access to play and learn from each other,” Kangwa told the ZamFoot Crew.The event which purely focuses on Girls Empowerment and Safe Spaces to unleash potential through football were hosted at Prince Takamado and Kanjema Grounds.BUSA has produced several Zambia Women’s national team stars including captain Barbara Banda, Spain-based striker Hellen Mubanga, midfield genius Mary Mwakapila, U-20 national team winger Salome Phiri, U-17 tetrad of Shelly Masumo, Esther ‘Gelo’ Banda, Gloria Maweta Chilenga, and Martha Katila Phiri.With BUSA, Pataaki, YASA, Luyando Foundation, and Football Chance taking part a great show was assured with a lot of amazing talent on display with the likes of Regina Chanda, Salome Phiri, Inonge ‘Debruyne’ Muyamwa, and the amazing Evarine Susan Katongo in action.The tournament attracted interest from six senior sides in Shinning Stars, Pataaki, Luyando Foundation, YASA, BUSA, and Football Chance.At the U-14 level, the tournament has attracted 10 teams in BUSA, MUSA, Luyando, Blue Sky, Chiparamba Blue Ea-gles, Pataaki, YASA, All-Stars, Blue Bullets, and Young Girls while U-12 level has also attracted 12 teams. – ZAM-FOOT.
