Boy (15) claims 512g marijuana was for smoking

MULENGA MUSONDA writes A 15-YEAR-OLD boy told the Choma Juveniles Court that the 512gms of Marijuana he was found with was for smoking. This was in a matter in which the Juvenile was arraigned in Court for allegedly trafficking in Psychotropic Substances contrary to the Laws of Zambia. Particulars of the offence are that the 15 years old Juvenile trafficked in 512gms of Marijuana, a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation. The incident happened on  May 7,  2020 and the Juvenile was apprehended on the same day. When he appeared for plea before Senior Resident Magistrate IdahMupemo, the juvenile who was seated next to his mother freely admitted the charge read to him. Court: Do you understand the charge read to you? Juvenile: I understand Court: How do you plead? Juvenile: I admit Court: You admit that you trafficked in the said Marijuana? Juvenile: Yes Court: How much was it? Juvenile: It was 5 balls Court: Did you have any authority? Juvenile: No Court: What was it for? Juvenile: It was for smoking Court: plea of guilty entered.
