BEATING YANGA NOT ENOUGH – KAINDU By MICHAEL MIYOBA ZANACO FC coach Kelvin Kaindu says his team’s victory over Tanzanian giants Yanga FC in Sunday’s international friendly match is not enough to guarantee Zanaco’s readiness for the CAF Champions League. The “Bankers” who preparing for a CAF Champions League fixture against Akonangui FC came from behind to beat Yanga 2-1 thanks to goals from AckimMumba and Kelvin Kapumbu. However, Kaindu said there is still a lot Zanaco needs to do as they continue to prepare for the tournament. Kaindu however noted that he was impressed with the way the team responded to Yanga’s attacks in the friendly match. “Overall, I think we did well, we are still very creative despite the 2-1 score line.  We could have gotten more goals but so far so good even in terms of fitness we were fit and stronger than the home team and the win away from home gives us a bit of confidence in terms of our preparations for the CAF Champions League,” Kaindu said. “If we can manage to get a victory over a team like Yanga then it shows that we are heading somewhere though we don’t want to relax. There is still a lot we need to do,” he said. Kaindu said the Bankers will have to work on their defence to avoid making clumsy errors in the CAF Champions League. Zanaco had started the friendly match against Yanga on a shaky note and conceded just after the half hour mark through Heritier Ebenezer Malambo who went past Zanaco’s clumsy defenders before slotting the ball into the net. Zanaco redeemed themselves in the second half with new signing Ackim Mumba getting the equaliser in the 61st minute. Kapumbu put Zanaco ahead in the 74th minute with a fantastic shot from the edge of the box to for the Bankers to emerge 2-1 victors in front of a fully packed 60, 000 capacity Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.
