Artistes join Covid-19 awareness campaign

Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya said the stance taken by the artists would help sensitise the public. Dr Chilufya said the pandemic had reached alarming levels especially in  communities where people were taking the matter lightly. The Minister was speaking in Lusaka yesterday when giving the daily covid-19 update. “People need to realise that Covid  is real and ensure that they adhere to the health guidelines.  “Compliance is key in the fight  against the deadly pandemic and we need people to understand this,” he said. Dr Chilufya said the Copperbelt and Lusaka remained the epi-centres for the pandemic and called on the public  to avoid non-essential travels. He said that the in creasing number of cases in the country was of main concern to government, hence the call for every citizen to always do the right thing. In the last 24  hours, Zambia recorded 284 new cases out of the 2, 191 tests done across the country bringing the cumulative number of cases to 12, 381. Two deaths were recorded bringing the total number of deaths to 290 while10 people recovered, bringing the total number to 11, 479.
