All PF MPs have paid back – Mwila

By ROGERS KALERO  ALL the Patriotic Front Members of Parliament who continued to serve as ministers after parliament was dissolved in 2016 have settled the amounts which the Constitutional Court ordered them to pay,’’ PF Secretary-General Davies Mwila has said Mr Mwila said as law abiding citizens, the PF ministers decided to settle the money after the judgement of the Constitutional Court which ordered them to pay back the allowances which they were paid while serving as ministers after parliament was dissolved. Speaking in Kitwe yesterday when he addressed the district executive committee at the PF offices, he said the ruling party was grateful to all the well-wishers who supported it to raise funds which enabled the ministers to settle the amounts. “I must inform the nation that all our ministers who were ordered by the Constitutional Court to pay back the allowances which they were paid after parliament was dissolved, they have paid back the money as per judgement from the Constitutional Court. “This shows that the party and its members have the respect for the court of law. They have paid despite having worked to serve the people of Zambia.  We are also grateful to those who supported the party to raise the money which went towards the raising of the money,” Mr Mwila said. Mr Mwila has also warned aspiring  candidates maligning or de-campaigning incumbent Members of Parliament must stop or face disciplinary action from the party. Mr Mwila said the party had observed with disappointment that some of the aspiring candidates were not talking about what they would do if they became MPs, but they were busy de-campaigning the incumbent MPs. Meanwhile,  more than K200,000 has been raised by the Sisters of St John the Baptist during a fundraising breakfast held at St John’s Convent School and officiated by the Patriotic Front (PF) Secretary General Davies Mwila The Sisters of St John were targeting to raise K160,000 for the sisters who were undergoing training, but Mr Mwila ensured that the money went beyond the targeted amount by telling those that were holding or aspiring for political positions to make contributions.
