SUN SPORTS writes@SunZambianABSA Bank Zambia has raised K160,000 from the Mizinga Melu challenge during the ongoing 3-day ABSA Virtual Marathon that ends today. And Sports Minister Emmanuel Mulenga has commended ABSA Zambia for consistently organising the event.Mulenga noted that the consistency of the bank in organising the marathon underlined the focus of the ministry’s national sport policy. The minister noted that the event also underscores the call by the President Edgar Lungu for Zambians to stay fit and healthy. He was speaking during the launch of the three-day ABSA marathon held at Garden City Mall yesterday.“The consistency by ABSA to organise the marathon does not only underline the focus of the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development’s national sport policy but also underscores the call by the President for Zambians to stay fit and healthy,” Mulenga said.“I wish to call on other corporate institutions to emulate ABSA in its quest to continue promoting healthy living and we hope to see corporate institutions join hands with government in promoting physical activities and sport as an aspect of preventing non communicable diseases in the country.”ABSA Bank Zambia Chief Executive Officer Mizinga Melu said the bank had raised K160,000 from the Mizinga Melu challenge during the marathon.Melu said the money raised would go towards the building of ablution blocks for girls in underserved areas. She said that the virtual marathon would run for three days up to tomorrow and that participants could register from anywhere for as long as they had recognised applications in which they could post and then be given some medals later.Others present at the marathon were Zambia Institute of Bankers Managing Director Victoria Mumba, Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa.
