76 ETHIOPIANS INTERCEPTED IN MAIZE BRAN-LADEN TRUCK
By AARON CHIYANZO ABOUT 76 Ethiopians have been apprehended for unlawful entry after a truck was intercepted near Musekela area in Chipata by Immigration Officers from the Chipata Regional Immigration Office and Mwami Border Control.  The Ethiopians aged between 15 and 35 years were found concealed in a maize bran-laden Zambian registered Volvo truck, following a tip from the public.  Immigration public relations officer, Namati Nshinka said the truck was believed to have been Lusaka-bound. Mr Nshinka said the 76 were being held at Chipata Central Police and will be transferred to Namuseche Correctional Facility pending further immigration formalities. He said the driver of the truck escaped escape and that investigations were ongoing. Mr Nshinka said in a similar development, the Chibombo Immigration Office on Tuesday apprehended 11 Ethiopians aged between 11 and 30 years for unlawful entry and two Zambians, one of them a uniformed Police Officer, for aiding the Ethiopians to enter and remain in the country illegally. He said the suspects were intercepted at Chisamba check point after a tip.
