A 30 year old man of Kabompo District in Northwestern Province has drowned and died.David Wuyeke of Chisokone village of Pokola area in Kabompo is reported to have been found floating in the river by his father Charles Wuyeke aged 54 of the same abode.Northwestern Province Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushi confirmed the incident in a media statement released to ZANIS today.Mr Chushi said the deceased is reported to have left home on Friday,18th September, 2020 but did not returned home until the fateful day when he was discovered floating in the river near Lumbwe crossing point in Kafungo area by the father.“The brief facts are that on 18th September, 2020 around 18:00 hours, the deceased missed from home and was later discovered dead on Tuesday 22nd September, 2020 by his father who was searching for his son,” Mr Chushi said.He said police later visited the crime scene where they found the deceased in a partial decomposed state and was subjected to an early burial.“The police were later informed and visited the scene. The body was partially decomposed such that, the deceased was subjected for burial. So far, no foul play is suspected”, Mr Chushi said.Meanwhile speaking in a separate interview with ZANIS today the deceased’s uncle, Hendrix Solochi has described the death of his nephew as sad and unfortunate as the family were just from putting to rest another relative a few weeks ago.Mr Solochi has further appealed to police to thoroughly investigate the matter as the family suspect foul play because some witnesses have alleged to have found the deceased with his hands tied whilst floating in the water. – ZANIS The Sun
