RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambianTwo Lusaka men deny stealing various goods from five shops.Appearing before before magistrate Martha Miti was Chiluba Chisenga 30 a bricklayer of Kamanga and Teddy Tembo 39 of Chelstone extension facing five counts of breaking into a building and committing a felony.In defence Chisenga said a friend by the name of Michael brought a 14 inch television and asked him to help him sell it.He said him and Michael met Teddy Tembo and sold the television to him.Chisenga didn’t know where Michael had gotten the television.He said the 14 inch television was not found in his house but with Teddy Tembo the person he sold it to.Chisenga said he didn’t know anything about the sewing machines and the other items that he is alleged to have stolen.He also said the chitenges he was alleged to have stolen were not brought before the court.Chisenga said in count five, he is accused of stealing alcohol and yet it was not brought before the court as evidence.Tembo: How many were you when you came to sell the television?Chisenga: I came with my wife and Michael.Tembo: Did you tell me the television was stolen?Chisenga: No, because I also didn’t know it was stolen.Prosecutor: What did the police officers find in your house?Chisenga: Nothing but they took a speaker, shoes and other items.Tembo said it was on January 2 2020 when Chisenga, his friend and wife went to a bar where he does business.He said they found him selling pieces of chicken and cigarettes.Chisenga told him they had a 14 inch television which they were selling following some pressure to pay rentals.He said Chisenga told him the rentals were due and he needed to pay the landlord.He said he told them to return later in the day and bought the TV at K250 with a remaining balance of K50.He said in February Chisenga and his wife collected the remaining K50 from him.He said on February 9, 2020 he was at the bar selling his goods and around 19 hours officers from Kamaga police station visited him.He said they asked him to enter their vehicle and interviewed him concerning the missing TV’s and PlayStation.He said he was not involved but the officers apprehended him and took him to the police station.He told the officers that he bought the television from Chisenga and had no idea it was stolen.He said he did not steal any of the things he is alleged to have stolen and that some things claimed to have been stolen were not brought before the court.
