ONE hundred schools are expected to benefit from a Ministry of Livestock grant of about US$ 250, 000 to develop fishponds. Ministry of General Education permanent secretary for technical services, Jobbicks Kalumba said the initiative was aimed at boosting production units in schools.  said a list of beneficiary schools had already been compiled and would soon be submitted to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. He said this when he toured production units at MasansaSecondary School in Mkushi District.  Earlier, Dr. Kalumba toured Mkushi boarding secondary school where he urged head teachers in the district to emulate what the school was doing in supporting itself through the proceeds from the production units. And Mkushi North Member of Parliament, Doreen Mwapewho was part of the entourage urged schools to come up with businesses that would help in the day to day operations of the institutions. Meanwhile, the Provincial Education Officer, Jennifer Banda said the production units are helping schools to be self-reliant. – ZNBC The Sun
