10 MILES AWAY FROM COVID-19?
NOEL IYOMBWA writes COMPLIANCE with preventive measures against Covid-19 remains a challenge in Katuba, Organised Vendors and Traders Multipurpose Co-operative Society Limited (OVTRAMCOS) deputy chairperson Jeffrey Katoposha has said. Mr Katoposha was speaking in interview when a team of health response network and Patriotic Front (PF) Central Province mobilisation vice chairperson Charity Kapona conducted a senstisation campaign in the area, Mr Katoposha said people were still ignorant about the pandemic in the area. He said more senstisation needed to be done before the virus spread to the area.  Adherence was still pathetic. OVTRAMCOS is part of Community Response Team MOH/ZNHPI Health Promotions Unit.  And Ms Kapona says Covid-19 is a serious pandemic whose spread people should prevent at all cost. Commuter Rights Association of Zambia president Aaron Kamuti observed that 10 Miles was a transit centre making it vulnerable to the spread of the virus. Mr Kamuti said his organisation had targeted bus stations and markets for senstisation on the Covid-19 outbreak. “Our target is markets and bus stations for senstisation because this is where there are a lot of people, hence the virus can simply spread and today we are at 10 Miles Market because this is a transit point. Trucks from South Africa and other parts of the country park here. “This is a challenge. So, there should be mitigation measures put in place because we don’t want the virus to spread to the rural part of 10 Miles. A check at 10 Miles found most marketeers not wearing masks and not observing social distance. The Sun
