PATSON KAWEWE writes@SunZambian DURING the 2019/20 Eden University National Division One league, one name was constantly mentioned after the end of every match day, it could because of the goals, the assists, or simply just how the young player played for his team, that player is no other Albert Kangwanda.The young enterprising midfielder had a very good season by all standards scoring 12 goals which earned him the top goal scorer award and he also gave 22 assists.It is not surprising that one of Zambia’s top super league side Zanaco FC has signed the young player on a one-year seasonal loan deal with an option to extend. Kangwanda as always been dreaming to play for the Bankers who he as also referred to as a great footballing side with passionate supporters.“I am very happy to join the bankers cause it has been my dream club locally and I feel very motivated about it, it has brought a lot of belief in me to say I can surely achieve when I conquer. This move as coming at the very right time and I will work extra hard so that I will get myself to the starting line-up and prove to the world what am capable of doing,” he said.Having won the top goalscorer award in the Eden University, Albert feels he as the chance to try and also win the award in the Superleague and also win the league with Zanaco.“I am eying for the top scorer award which I know won’t be easy but I believe in myself and in the great team of players I have joined, I know I will get the chance to learn more from established players like Chisamba Lungu who are AfCON winners,” he added.Zanaco announced the signing of the former Under-20 international Kangwanda on a one-year deal from Kafue Celtic, while 20-year-old Abraham Siankombo from Police College has penned a three-year contract. Another former Young Chipolopolo midfielder Obino Chisala has also penned a three-year deal from Happy Hearts.Meanwhile, striker’s George Nyimbili and Mike Zozi have graduated from Young Zanaco to the senior team.Both 21-year olds have signed 3 year contracts. Zanaco Football Club General Manager Marlon Kananda says the club will continue investing in young players.“We shall continue investing in young players, they are the future of football at Zanaco FC and the nation as a whole,” Kananda said.– ZAMFOOT.
