RABECCA BANDA writes A LUSAKA man has told the Magistrates Court how a woman obtained K18,000 from him for a vehicle she claimed was on auction sale. Appearing before magistrate Ruth Kapulo was Natasha Njovu, 38, a businesswoman of Ibex. According to the court records, in the first count, Njovu allegedly  withintent to deceive and defraud did obtain K18,000 from Mateyo Daka on pretext that she had a car for auction sale when in fact not. In the second count, Njovu on February 4 allegedly with intent to deceive and defraud did obtain K18,000 from Blessed Tembo on pretext that she had a car on auction sale when in fact not. Mateyo Daka, 40, a businessman of Mtendere east was involved in the business of running minibuses. He said he wanted to buy a vehicle and Mr. Mwale introduced him to Natasha Njovu. He said Natasha Njovu said she worked at ZRA and later she called him saying there were two vehicles going on auction sale for K36,000. He said she told him that if he pays for a vehicle before the actual auction day, it will be cheaper. He said she told him to pay K1,500 bidding fee for the auction that would make place at ZRA. He said a day later, she called him and asked him to go to ZRA offices floor number nine. He said he went to ZRA with his friend Blessing Tembo who was also interested in buying a vehicle He said they went to ZRA offices met with Natasha Njovu at the reception on the ninth floor. He said she got copies of their NRCs and said she had taken the documents to her boss for approval. He said he paid K1,500 bidding fee and K16,500 cash for the vehicle. He said Mr. Tembo paid K18,000 cash for a vehicle and she got the documents where they signed. He said a few days later when he asked when he was going to get his vehicle, Njovu started giving excuses and later stopped picking his calls. He said a few days later, Njovu informed him that she had a misunderstanding with her workmates over the vehicles and she was in police custody. He said she switched off her phones and that alerted him and Mr. Temboto go to ZRA head office to inquire her whereabouts. He said at the ZRA head offices, he was told that Natasha Njovu also known as Mrs. Chisenga was not an employee there. He said Njovu  did not give him his vehicle and has not returned not even a coin from   the money she got from him. The matter comes up on June 2 for continued trial. The Sun
