RABECCA BANDA writes A LUSAKA man has narrated in the Magistrates Court how he bought a phone from a man accused of stealing from and raping a woman. Before magistrate Jennipher Bwalya was Derrick Daka, 28, of Linda township accused of allegedly raping a Lusaka resident and stealing her phone on 11 January 2018. Daka is also accused of raping another woman and stealing Techno Tablet. Witness Gabriel Khumalo,23 a builder of Linda compound said he has known Daka since 2018. He said Daka came to him and said he had pressure and was selling a phone at K300. Khumalo said he bought the phone, black and white in colour from Daka at a cost of K300. He said he started using the phone and a few days later, a man called asking to meet with him within Linda compound. He said he didn’t know that the person calling was a police officer but when he got there, he was apprehended and asked where he got the phone. He said he told the officer that he bought the phone from Daka and that he can show them where he can be found. He said he took the officers at the shop were Daka was and they were both apprehended. He said they were taken to Abel Mukandawire police station but later he was later released. Daka: Where were we taken after the police officers apprehended us?
