WILSA urges women to participate in the governance

THE Women in Law in Southern Africa (WILSA) says it has intensified sensitisation on the need for women to participate in decision making process ahead of the 2021 general elections. WILSA Project Manager Besa Chanda said the organisation has been working in different parts of the country in educating women on the need to participate fully in the governance of the country especially now that the country is headed for the general elections. Speaking to ZANIS in an interview in Chikankata, Ms Chanda stated that her organisation is also involved in educating women in many aspects of life such as in the fight against early marriages and on matter of gender based violence. She said it was sad that majority of women are marginalised in society, a situation she said is being addressed by WILZA to ensure that the imbalance is corrected. She said the organisation is also advocating for equal representation between men and women in decision making positions in accordance with the SADC requirements. She has since called on women in Zambia to participate fully in elective positions at local government, parliamentary and presidential levels. – ZANIS. The Sun
