By ANDREW MUKOMA THE PF in Southern Province has pledged to offer constructive checks and balances to the UPND government for the sake of national development. According to the former ruling party, ‘two wrongs do not make a right’. Provincial Information and Publicity Secretary, Trymore Mwenda, told the Daily Nation that Zambians should give the UPND government enough time to deliver campaign promises. “We will offer different checks and balances based on constructive criticism meant to build because we believe the UPND’s success will be good for all Zambians. “We will not drive an agenda to make the UPND fail but work with them to deliver to the Zambian people because combining efforts will be for the benefit of the country,” he said. Mr Mwenda noted that certain quarters of society were calling on the UPND government to immediately effect free education, reduce the cost of farming inputs and increase salaries for civil servants among others. ‘We however, hold the view that there is need to give President Hakainde Hichilema and his Government enough time to actualise these promises through the efforts of every Zambian pulling in one direction,” he charged. Mr Mwenda also commended President Hichilema on the appointment of Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane as Finance Minister because he was the right person for the job as he was well experienced and fully qualified. “However, some sections of society that are aggrieved over this appointment claiming that Dr Musokotwane is old for the job, must wait for the President to finish his full cabinet appointments,” he advised.
