WE WILL DEPART FROM THE CULTURE OF WASTEFULNESS, EXTRAVANGANCE – HH By: Irvin Muyumbwa President Hakainde Hichilema has assured cooperating partners that his administration will depart from the culture of wastefulness and extravagance seen in the past by being prudent in order to save resources which will benefit more of the people. And President Hichilema said his government believes the country’s diplomatic relations with other countries must be emphasized based on economic advancements through trade and investments. President Hichilema said this is important towards uplifting the social life and opportunities of the people. The Head of State was speaking yesterday at State House when he received credentials from Ambassadors and High Commissioners accredited to Zambia. Those who presented their credentials are from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ghana, India, Czech Republic, Ireland, Mozambique and Israel. He said his administration intends to continue to be transparent and prudent rather than being wasteful and will continue with the close collaborations through the diplomats and the people of Zambia. And President Hichilema said Zambia continues to share diverse and dynamic relations with many countries which he is confident will continue to translate into tangible achievements aimed at enhancing cooperation for mutual benefit. He said it is his government’s desire to consolidate the gains that have so far been achieved through collaboration with cooperating partners and countries by exploring ways that increase collaboration at multilateral foras. Meanwhile, President Hichilema said there was need to redefine Foreign Direct Investment to be primarily African countries looking at opportunities to enhance investment opportunities amongst themselves in order to go to the global community as a stronger group.
