VOTE FOR DEVELOPMENT – PRESIDENT EDGAR LUNGU
By AARON CHIYANZO WE deserve to remain in office because we have done more than what the people of Zambia expected us to do as a leadership that has transformed the country through infrastructure development, President Edgar Lungu has said. President Lungu said this at the commissioning of the US$360 million ultramodern new terminal at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport yesterday. He said Zambians must be proud of what the PF government had achieved in such a short time. “You must be proud of being Zambian, with such infrastructure at your service. You are part of this great story. We only used to see and admire such airports in other countries,” Mr Lungu said. “The annual capacity has been increased from two million passengers to four million passengers,” Mr Lungu said. President Lungu said for this reason, operationalising the new terminal was a significant milestone in the PF government’s development agenda. And Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing Permanent Secretary, Engineer Danny Mfune said about 40 local contractors were engaged in the project to the tune of US$80 million. Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Lie Ji said KKIA would now compete fairly with other major international airports. And Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary, Elias Kamanga expressed gratitude to the PF government for littering the province with ultramodern infrastructure which had eased livelihoods.
