Upscale campaigns, UPND officials told
By SANFROSSA MANYINDA THE UPND on the Copperbelt had directed members to upscale their campaigns in all areas and stop holding endless planning meetings among themselves. Elisha Matambo, the UPND Copperbelt Chairman, ordered all party structures to go all out campaigning for party candidates instead of spending time holding meetings among themselves. He observed that officials in the party structures were spending a lot of time holding meetings and not going out in the field. He said the party structures were leaving the work to the candidates alone, a situation he said was not supposed to be the case. “I am not going to take kindly to such conduct from any leaders. I have also received reports that some ward officials are demanding for money from the candidates for them to go out and campaign. “This is unacceptable and it should come to an end from today onwards. We are left with only a few days before voting and I see no reason why people should relax.  Please, namipapata, go out in the field and campaign,” he said. Mr Matambo urged all the party leaders that were in the provincial structures not to stay home but go to campaign in the field where their presence was needed. The provincial chairman, however, said he was not against holding meetings for planning purposes, but that such should be held from the wards or in the field.
