UPND WREAKS HAVOC
By SIMON MUNTEMBA UPPD cadres in Hakainde Hichilema’s entourage yesterday left a trail of destruction as they brutally assaulted several PF members and destroyed their properties in Chisamba.                         This is barely a few days after UPND and PF signed a peace accord, signaling commitment to ending the electoral violence that has engulfed the two political parties ahead of the August 12, 2021 general elections. One of the victims, PF Chaloshi Ward aspiring councillor Arnold Munkondya told the Daily Nation that the entourage allegedly assaulted him and other people using pangas and machetes on account that they belonged to the PF. Mr Munkondya said a group of UPND members who were in a Toyota Canter  went on rampage destroying property belonging to PF sympathisers before hacking them with machetes and pangas. “HH with his thugs came to Chaloshi Ward and assaulted several people including our vice chairperson. I was chased and assaulted too. In fact, the ward chair lady, Ms Angela Chansa, was injected with unknown substances which left her paralysed. “All the victims were rushed to a nearby health centre, and they were referred to a Zone Hospital where they are still admitted. We have reported the matter to Chisamba Police,” he said.  Efforts to get a comment from Police spokesperson Esther Katongo proved futile by press time.
