UPND TAKES KALENGWA MINE WRANGLE TO PARLIAMENT

A COURT action which has dragged for many years has delayed the opening of Kalengwa Mine in Mufumbwe District, North Western Province, Vice President Inonge WIna told Parliament on Friday.She said it was not possible for government to make a decision when the matter was active in court adding that government was aware opening Kalengwa Mine would change the economic landscape of Mufumbwe.She said it was not possible for government to make a decision when the matter was active in court adding that government was aware opening Kalengwa Mine would change the economic landscape of Mufumbwe.The Vice President was responding to a question from UPND Mufumbwe MP Elliot Kamondo who wanted to get an update on the progress made to open the mine.UPND is fighting for its mine whose share holders in Mexico Resources Zambia includes UPND’s Chairperson for international Relations Mulundwe Muzungu, a losing candidate for Mufumbwe Constituency in 2016 and the Chairperson for Mufumbwe District Council Elijah Munyompe.Chief Chizela’s Indunas have threatened to take matters in their hands and will not allow government to dictate to them but the former Member of parliament for Mufumbwe Stephen Masumba says the mine is for everyone whether UPND, PF or any other party.Kalengwa Mineral Processing Limited and Moxico Resources Zambia are in court over ownership of the mine in Mufumbwe District.–SMART EAGLES
