UPND officials jostle for DMMU job – HH By MUKWIMA CHILALA PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has disclosed that some of his senior party members have been pestering him for  a job to head the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU). And President Hichilema has said there is need  to make the DMMU a noble institution to serve humanity and not for people to enrich themselves like the ones who were  there before. The President said this yesterday during the memorial service of UPND founding president Anderson Kambela Mazoka held at his burial site known as “Ku-malende”. President Hichilema advised his senior party members who have  been pestering him for a job to head the Disaster Management Unit (DMMU) against envying such a position because it would send them to jail. He disclosed that about 20 senior party officials have been going to him asking and  complaining about not being given jobs and that majority have been lobbying to be given the DMMU job . “Why do you think 20 senior party members  want to go to DMMU, because they have seen that the one who was there before has  built mansions. We have to make DMMU a noble function to serve humanity and  not to enrich themselves. If it means I must offend my members  then I will do it because we have to correct the country,” he said. “I know Kambela is proud of us.  We are studying the situation at DMMU and learning it because we are fast learners, so If you don’t get a DMMU job then maybe we have saved you from going to Prison,” he said. And President Hichilema has said that he will in the next few days  announce the first asset recovery. The President said that the idea is not to injure Zambians but give what belongs to them .
