UNZA Don appointed Capital Markets Tribunal’s Chairperson
SIMON MUNTEMBA writes A UNIVERSITY of Zambia (UNZA) lecturer and researcher in the School of Law, Chanda Tembo has been appointed and sworn in as Chairperson of the Capital Markets Tribunal a body established under the Securities Act of 2016. According UNZA head of communication and marketing, Brenda Bukowa, Mrs Tembo who was sworn in by the Chief Justice, Irene Mambilima on Thursday, is a lecturer in Intellectual Property law, the Law of Evidence, Civil and Criminal procedure at UNZA. In a congratulatory message to Mrs Tembo, Chairperson of the Caretaker Committee, Ms Namucana Musiwa said Mrs Tembo’sappointment would enhance the reputation and image of the UNZA as a repository and reservoir of knowledge and competence.   She wished Mrs Tembo God’s grace and guidance as she leads the Tribunal. Meanwhile, UNZA vice chancellor, Luke Mumba, said the institution was proud of Mrs Tembo’s appointment.  “UNZA is extremely proud of your achievement and we are confident that you will serve the nation with utmost professionalism and commitment emanating from the experience you have acquired over the years,” Prof. Mumba said. Mrs Tembo is currently serving as assistant Dean, Post Graduate Studies in the School of Law. She was admitted to practice as an advocate of the High Court of Zambia in 2001.  She holds a Master of Laws Degree in Intellectual Property Law, from Mahatma Gandhi University Kottayam, Kerala, India and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Zambia. She also holds a Diploma in Legislative Drafting from the Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE). The Sun
