SUN SPORTS writes@SunSportsTHE Zambia Under 17 Womens National Soccer team maintained their unbeaten run at the 2020 COSAFA tournament following the 3 0 bashing of Comoros Islands.The Copper Princesses previously beat hosts South Africa and guest team Tanzania both via a 2-1 scoreline before the third fixture played at the Oval Stadium in Port Elizabeth.Two first half goals from Comfort Selemani and Tisilile Lungu and a second half goal from Bupe Banda propelled the Kaluba Kangwa drilled laces to 9-points.“We knew that we would win this game and informed the players to take it easy and play tactically because we knew our opponents would play compact football and they were extremely hard on us but what is important for us is we have gotten the three points and looking forward to the next game,” said Kangwa in an Interview after the final whistle.“We had to make sure that we prepare the girls psychologically knowing very well that we have got two more games to play and we asked them to reserve the energy and I’m so proud to say the girls have done a very good job.”Kangwa said the girls would now focus on their next game against Zimbabwe before the final slated for Saturday at the Wolfson Stadium.He said the team would plan for the next two fixtures because there are a lot of people who are expecting the girls to do well from family members to friends and the leaders.Zambia who beat South Africa and Tanzania 2-1 respectively before beating Comoros 3-0 yesterday, will take on Zimbabwe in the last group game on Thursday as they await second best performers for the final.Meanwhile, the senior women’s team captain Barbra Banda said the Copper Queens will fight hard to beat Botswana to reach the finals of the 2020 COSAFA Senior Women’s Championship in South Africa.Banda said the team would deliver good results in the next fixture after a shocking 1-0 defeat to Malawi.Zambia will play Botswana on Thursday with the winner progressing to the finals where they will play the winner between South Africa and Malawi who are set to lock horns in the other semifinal fixture.
