TWO IN COURT FOR CATTLE THEFT
Two Itezhi Tezhi farmers have pleaded not guilty to stealing 12 heads of cattle worth K60, 000. Gift Hamilumbe, 21, and  Credius Hamaundu,19, both of Mushi  village in Chief Muwezwa’s  Chiefdom in Itezhi Tezhi District in Central Province who were  arrested without a warrant on 11 April, 2020  are  charged with stock theft, contrary to section 275 and 272 of the penal code of the laws of Zambia. Particulars of the offence allege that  the duo , on 23rd  June 2020  in Itezhi Tezhi District in Central Province, jointly and whilst acting together , did steal 12 heads of cattle  valued at K60,000,  the property of Bornwell Chilalu. When the case came up for plea before Court, the duo denied the charge and the court entered a not guilty plea. Magistrates Mugala Chalwe then adjourned the matter to June 22, 2020 for commencement of trial. Meanwhile three men of Itezhi Tezhi have pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a fire arm. Torres Moonga,24, of Masasabi Resettlement Scheme Block 2, Emmanuel Hambizi,33, of Siachinenga in Nkobo area and Solomon  Mweka,37, of Shapama village,  all farmers of Shimbizhi Chiefdom were jointly charged with unlawful possession of a fire arm. Particulars of the offence allege that the trio on August 17, 2020, jointly and whilst acting together had in their possession a fire arm namely a homemade shot gun without a license. When the case came up for plea, they said that they understood the charge and pleaded guilty.
