Trespassers unsettle hospital management

SANFROSSA MANYINDA writes THE Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) has advised members of the community to avoid moving around its premises unnecessarily to avoid contracting diseases. Of late, the hospital is usually crowded with people who access the premises through many entry points that it has. Most people take advantage of the damaged boundary wall and find their way inside whether they have got patients at the facility or not. Others use the hospital premises as a short-cut from Parklands to Buchi Township and vice- versa, a situation that has unsettled hospital management. KTH Senior Medical Superintendent, Abidan Chansa, explained that it was not safe for people to get in and out of the premises whenever they felt like. “It is not safe for people to frequent the hospital premises as the situation also disturbs the working routine of health personnel. “Moreover, we have a deadly outbreak in our midst and frequenting the hospital is the last thing people should be thinking of because they may end up contracting the virus should there be covid-19 patients,” he said. Dr Chansa noted with concern that people had stopped following the stipulated visiting hours as most of them visited their relatives anytime they felt like. He said that the hospital had guidelines on visitation hence appealing to those going to visit their loved ones to do so at stipulated hours. The Sun
