MUKWIMA CHILALA writes BIG Tree Beverages Limited has been lauded for their continued investment into local products that has seen job creation and promotion of local business. Speaking at the launch of Vatra mineral water, Lusaka Mayor Miles Sampa said his office appreciates the role played by businesses such as Trade Kings that had been partnering with Government in improving the quality of life of the people. Mr Sampa noted that the US$50 Million investment by Big Tree Beverages under the Trade Kings group into the Lusaka South Multi Economic Zone (MFEZ) in form of a state of the art Beverage Production facility was admirable and places Zambia in a strategic position in both regional and global markets. The Mayor lauded the company for the employment created for the youthful population as a result of the Vatra product. He has since called on investors and would be investors to emulate what the Trade Kings Group had done in contributing to the viability of the manufacturing sector and the economy that utilised locally generated raw materials. He noted that through the already launched products, and now Vatra Mineral water, a trend had been set and that Zambia had capacity to manufacture local products for the nation and regional markets. And Trade Kings Group general manager Lux Subramanium said that the company’s focus was more than just improving high quality locally manufactured products but that it was about improving lives. Mr Subramanium said that Trade Kings believed in demonstrating the proudly Buy Zambian campaign by manufacturing locally produced brands. He said that Big Tree Beverages had led the group’s expansion into the Lusaka South MFEZ.
