Suspected charcoal theft lands youth in court
Mulenga Musonda writes @SunZambian Two bags of Charcoal and eight Jackets have landed a 26 year old youth before the Choma Magistrates Court to defend himself from the charge of Burglary and Theft. In this matter, Vincent Mwaanga of Choma’s Mwapona Compound appeared before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa to exculpate himself from allegations of Burglary and Theft slapped on him. Allegations are that Mwaanga wilfully and unlawfully entered the house of John Chimanga and stole 2 Bags of Charcoal, a Knife and 8 Jackets all valued at K740 the property of the named Chimanga. When he was called by Public Prosecutor Dexter Kwalela to take plea before Court, Mwaanga vehemently denied the charge against him compelling the Court to record a plea of innocent. Court: Have you understood the charge? Mwaanga: I have understood. Court: How do you plead? Mwaanga:  I deny. Court: I record a plea of not guilty. Following a plea of not guilty, the matter was adjourned to January 18 for mention and 21 for commencement of trial. Mwaanga was remanded in custody.
