South UPND pleads with Mweetwa
By ANDREW MUKOMA SOME UPND sympathizers in Southern Province have pleaded with Mr Cornelius Mweetwa to rescind his decision not to recontest his Choma Central constituency seat. UPND provincial Information and Publicity Secretary, Neto Halwabala, confirmed in Livingstone that the electorate not just in Choma alone but even in other areas want Mr Mweetwa to rescind his decision. “We have received many petitions from electorates within Choma and beyond pleading with Mr Cornelius Mweeetwa to rescind his decision not to recontest the Choma Central Parliamentary seat,” he said. Mr Halwabala said that the electorate had been pleading with the provincial leadership to engage Mr Mweetwa over his decision before it was too late. He said people feel that Mr Mweetwa was a national asset who should continue in Parliament to speak for them. “Mr Mweetwa’s input together with other vibrant MPs has made PF in Parliament learn and appreciate democracy but they pretend not so. “It is time to learn more about his decision and chat the way forward which will be of interest to the party as well. He is not a private individual but a public figure whose decision has an effect on the whole country,” he said.
