SOCIALIST PARTY LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN IN KASAMA CHACHACHA STYLE
BY NOMA PHIRI AND NIZA NAYAME                  THE Socialist Party yesterday launched its campaign in Kasama with a promise to reignite the Chachacha style of campaign to save the country’s economy. And Party president, Fred M’membe urged the local people to vote for his Socialist Party, which he described as a poor party for the poor. “Let the rich vote for themselves and the poor people should vote for the Socialist Party, their party,” he said. He also said his party was forced to join the presidential race because it wanted to redeem the nation from poverty, which had engulfed 70 percent of the population. And Dr M’membe’s running mate, Dr  Cosmas Musumali said the party was strategically  being launched in Kasama, the Bemba homeland, which he claimed had been decimated by poverty. Kasama, the home of the revolutionary Chachacha uprising, was chosen for the launch in order to reignite the same spirit in the people who must reject being used. Other party officials pointed out that Bembas were king makers though they have not produced a president yet.
