SOCCER FANS NEED $268,000 TO CHEER CHIPOLOPOLO IN MAURITANIA
By MICHAEL MIYOBA THE Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) has called on the corporate world to help raise US$268, 000 required to fly 150 soccer fans to Mauritania for Zambia’s crucial 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifier slated for September 3 at Stade Olympique Stadium in Nouakchott. In an interview, ZASPOFA patron Peter Makembo said soccer fans are determined to fly to Mauritania to cheer the Chipolopolo to inspire them to a perfect start in the World Cup qualifiers.  Makembo said it will be important for the Chipolopolo to begin the qualifiers on a positive note to keep alive their dream of qualifying for the Qatar World Cup. “We know that as fans we play a critical role to motivating a team when it is representing millions of Zambians on the pitch.  “We want to see the Chipolopolo begin the qualifiers on a positive note that is why we are doing everything we can to charter a plane to Mauritania to support our Copper Bullets,” Makembo said. “However we are calling on the corporate world to help us raise the funds meant to fly us to Mauritania for the crucial fixture against that country.” Makembo is hopeful that the Chipolopolo can shock the world by making a debut appearance at the 2022 World Cup.  Zambia will face Mauritania before hosting Tunisia in a group B fixture slated for September 8 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
