Sinazongwe downpour wreaks havoc
ANDREW MUKOMA writes @sunzambian IF the heavy rains that are being experienced in Sinazongwe district and other parts of Southern Province continue, then Muziyo Community in Munzuma area will soon be cut off. Headman Munzuma told the Daily Nation in an interview in Sinazeze, Sinazongwe District that each time his area experienced heavy downpour, most of the bridges were being washed away. “Now that we have these rains which we are experiencing, our area will be cut off because the bridges that we have on our streams are not permanent. “Once the streams are flooded, those bridges are usually washed away and even when we appeal for help, nothing happens,” he lamented. He charged that despite the many appeals his community had been making to the leadership, there had not been any positive response. Headman Munzuma said that the terrain in Munzuma area was very bad because it was sloppy and hilly in most parts. The traditional leader said once the streams were flooded, bridges were easily being washed away and villagers of Munzuma particularly those in Muziyo area got cut off. Headman Munzuma feels the area has been neglected for many years by those in leadership at all levels.
