SIAVONGA SET FOR TURN-AROUND NEWLY-ELECTED Siavonga Town Council Chairperson, Given Kwapu, has pledged to work hard and effectively deliver development to the people in the district. Mr Kwapu said he and his team of councillors were aware of the many challenges the district was faced with and would work hard to resolve the problems. He said this in his inaugural address when he and 14 other civic leaders took oath of office in Siavonga earlier on Thursday. Mr Kwapu, 12 Councilors alongside Chief Simamba took oath of office before Resident Magistrate Musonda. He pledged to improve service delivery and work to attract more investment to the tourism resort town. The only female councillor of Simamba ward, Fatima Sicheele, said she was ready to represent the women folk’s interest in the council chamber. Siavonga Town Council Secretary Elizabeth Mutetocongratulated the newly sworn in local government officials and pledged management’s support to the elected officials.
