Shimabala farmer denies forgery charge
RABECCA BANDA writes A KAFUE man has pleaded not guilty in the Magistrates Court after being accused of forging cheques over a two year period. Before magistrate Martha Miti was Earnest Chikoye, 52, a farmer of Shimabala facing several charges. In the first count, Chikoye jointly and whilst acting with other person’s unknown did forge a Barclays bank cheque number 003684 for Nkosi Breweries Limited Company dated March 29 2019 in a sum of K5,202.66 payable vehicle center purporting to show that it was signed by authority signatory when in fact not. In count two, he is charged with uttering false documents between March 29 2017 and 30 October 2019, knowingly did fraudulently utter a false document namely Barclays Bank cheque number 003684 for Nkosi Breweries Limited dated 20 March 2019 in a sum of K5,202.66 payable to vehicle center to Barclays Bank offices. In count three, Chikoye on unknown dates but between May 21 2017 and 31 October 2017 jointly and whilst acting with other person’s unknown did forge Barclays Bank cheque number 003877 for Nkosi Breweries Limited company dated May 22 2017 in the sum of K10,000.00 purporting to show that it was formally signed by authorized signatory when in fact not. Chikoye pleaded not guilty to all 72 counts. The matter comes up on June 22 and 23 for trial.
