‘She has been sleeping with my husband’
MARY PHIRI writes A WOMAN of Kaloko Township in Ndola has dragged another woman to court on ground that she has been sleeping with her husband. In this case Cecilia Chilombo 48, sued Ruth Chibumbi 49, for marriage interference, complaining that her husband was spending nights at the woman’s place. Chilombo told the Kabushi Local Court that her husband always kept late nights and at times he would not even eat at home because he was always with the same woman. The case came before presiding magistrate Evelyn Nalwizya. She said her husband saved the women’s phone number by a man’s name so that she could fail to recognize the number. “I will not allow this woman to break my marriage, that’s why I decided to sue her so that she stops flirting with my husband,” she said. In defence, Chibumbi said she had never gone out with Chilombo’s husband and added that it was insulting to her for someone to accuse her of infidelity as she was a respectable woman in the community. And Chilombo’s husband, Andy Nyirenda 52, told the court that his wife was a jealous woman who did not even allow him to go out with his friends. “She always thinks I have gone out with women when I would just spending time with my friends. She’s so suspicious of everything, checks my phones and questions my movements. I have tried to tell her that I don’t go out with any woman. This woman she has brought to court is innocent,” he insisted. Nyirenda said he only knew her from the market as she owned a shop but did not at any time sleep with her. Magistrate Nalwizya said there was no case because the husband was not being truthful hence no compensation was given. The Sun
